It was a good bed and breakfast, not much amenities, we were on the ninth floor and we had an spectacular view. The attendants were very friendly and the sangria delicious.

Lovely view from the terrace and good, central location, friendly staff… BUT the room was like a cheap motel, the drains really stank, the breakfast was very basic and certainly unimaginative (sad when you consider how close the hotel is to an excellent food market). My husband’s hay fever started up every time we came into the room. We won’t stay here again and would advise you not to either.

A 'swimming pool' that is the size of a big bathroom! Seriously! Can't really swim in it at all. A 'breakfast buffet' — which is 2 pots of overstewed mushrooms and 'chicken sausages' and limited pastries — helpful pleasant staff though.

Room 412. Friendly and welcoming staff. 2 single beds in the room. The rooftop bar was nice but expense for a beer (€8) there is a shop around the corner that has pints for €1 and there is a fridge in the room if your looking at saving. The entire stay our floor was covered in small rocks and sand and didn't seem to be vacuumed in our 4 days there. The toilet smelled of urine.

Beautiful refurbished hotel. Super professional staff and services. Perfect size rooms with elegant modern bathrooms make staying here a pleasure. Fun rooftop lounge with pool and bar for that last drink. Tho when busy it can take some time for food orders. Close to Las Rambla and everything Barcelona can offer, the place to stay.

If you can choose another home.
The old thin man in the front desk with a strange eye and an aggressive attitude makes me think that this is not a place for people to relax, but a beggar under the sending fence to collect. The Chinese "choose carefully. " (For the first time in nearly 20 years, I have met employees in the service industry with this attitude towards tenants. ) Especially foreigners please choose carefully!

Very good standing. Very friendly but the room overlooking the street is noisy because old frame (bad soundproofing). On the other hand everything else is excellent: decoration, cleanliness, reception, bar and terrace with pool, wonderful breakfast etc.

Very nice Hotel. Lovely breakfast. Only negative is that our bedtoom was bit small. Did not worry us but it may some.

Good location only a short walk away from Last Ramblas; our room was small but comfortable (we slept like logs! ) ; service was adequate.

Good hotel in a convenient location to all of the tourist attractions. The bathrooms were nice and the bed was comfortable. The staff were really welcoming. The rooms could have done with a hoover, lots of dust along the skirting boards and under the bed. Very peaceful despite the central location. Good value for money.

The place is lovely. We ate at the restaurant the new Year's menu and although it was not bad, it did not live up to the local and service that was outstanding. Anyway we will repeat because the overall experience was very good. You have to book in advance.

Tom at reception was very helpful, good recommendations from him. Room was nice and clean, Arnau Bar quiet and good value. Hotel situated very close to La Rambla and Liceu Metro station, which was ideal for NYE celebrations. Very nice stay, will definitely be back.

What can you say about Hotel España? It is the second oldest hotel in Barcelona and the first one that has given priority to the conservation of Catalan modernism. You must go without hesitation! Charming!.

Fantastic hotel. Great location just off the Las ramblas so quiet at night but only a 30 second walk. Staff very helpful. Food very good. And very clean. Will stay again.

From the checking in at Reception until you are assisted with your luggage when leaving — the experience is world class. Brilliant location as well.

Set in an 1859 building, this posh hotel features Catalonian Modernism design and is a 3-minute walk from both Liceu train station and the Liceu's Grand Theater. The stylish, minimalist rooms with earth-tone colors feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus room service and minibars. Upgraded rooms add amenities such as Nepresso coffee machines and terraces, and suites include whirlpool tubs and separate lounge areas. There's also an apartment-style suite with several rooms and a 23 sq m terrace. The hotel has a regional restaurant with a swank, high-ceilinged dining room. There's also a rooftop pool and a hip a terrace bar with modern art.

Rooms are nice, if a bit smaller than they look on the website. Rooftop terrace is lovely to relax at.

Acclaimed Modernist architect, Lluis Domènech I Montaner, created the interiors of what then was just another Inn in town. Two gorgeous diningrooms and a bar, are showcased in the ground floor. There was a time when I could just go with clients (I'm a local tour guide), and visit freely and leisurely. No more. Off limits unless you are a guest in the hotel or you book a guided your with a your operator — who happens to have exclusive rights.

Great place, Stunning Hotel Modern but still captures it's old past. Staff friendly and very helpful, Roof top Pool and bar is great. Rooms clean and comfy. Only negative is Food and Drink very over priced compared to everywhere else.

Cute hotel just off of La Rambla. We opted for this hotel based on the pictures but should have reconsidered. While the hotel pics are exactly what you get i. E. Modern, fun, classy, and definitely clean its definitely style over function. The sink in our room was about four feet long. Not bad but the counter was also 4 feet long. No place for getting ready. There were two really cool faucets but they were hard to control and splashed water everywhere but the four foot sinks. The showers are really really cool. Rain heads from the ceiling and a slick stream of water from the center. These are all controlled, including the temperature, but turning one of four handles. Problem: When your hands are wet you cannot turn a polished chrome handle that is about 2" in diameter. We were excited for the roof top bar. Cool pics and lots of advertising urging us to visit and look out over Barcelona. We were there 5 days and the bar never opened once. Erika at the front desk is very helpful. She really tries hard and does well at her job. Her associate during the day (gentleman) is equally helpful and very nice. The nighttime staff might as well go home. Nothing more to say there. I wouldn't stay again but I would not necessarily state no one should. It has charm just style over function.

I cannot select the 5 stars because I didn't eat in this hotel but everything else was great. The rooms clean and nice. The people are very nice too. Very good experience and the hotel is right in the middle of everything you need.

I stayed in a Twin-Room with my girlfriend in this very comfortable hotel in Barcelona. It is very close located to the Rambla, just a few steps away. The service was excellent — especially Jordi was very friendly to us and other hotel guests. He's living his job. Unfortunately, we had not the chance to give him, what he deserves. Now to our room: The huge bed was very comfortable. There was not much space around the bed, but not as bad as in other rooms we were. The bathroom looked very modern, and it was very clean. This hotel takes us to the time of catalan modernism in its maximum expression.
With a restoration carried out by the architect Puig I Cadafalch, the hotel has many public rooms with a special charm. It is important to mention the main dining room, reception, the lounge (with its spectacular chimney), or the breakfast room (known as the Fishbowl).
I have not been hosted in the hotel, so I have not rated it for its services but for architecture that accompanies it.

Mr. Berasategui always as inventive restaurant but it's not Donostia.

A jewel of the catalan modernism, reformed by domènech I Montaner, converted into a four star hotel in the heart of the Gothic quarter, behind the Lyceum (price between 180 — €200 habitacion+desayuno per night or € 300 with menu taste in the bottom).
Known since 1859 as the Spain Fonda, in 1903 the reform of domènech I Montaner, Ramon Casas and Eusebi Arnau consolidating it as a first-class hotel. Currently the hotel offers the charm of modernism in his hall, staircase, lounges, restaurant. And the modernity of the 21st century in the rooms, facilities and terrace.
Notably its magnificent cuisine since it has Martín Berasategui as director of cuisine in restaurant la Fonda de Spain, and her Alaire terrace, where in summer you can enjoy tapas and cocktails accompanied by live music (Bossa Nova, flamenco. ).
The only downside is its price which makes it unsuitable for any budget accommodation. Although not you stay you on it, if you want to visit him without being housed can hire the guided tour € 5 and if you feel like eating on the bottom of Spain, have menus from €27 to €60 per person.

Amazing old hotel with mod cons. Very grand lobby and lounge area. The location is excellent and off the main rambla. So it's quieter than one might expect. Service is good. There are less costly hotels nearby but you won't be disappointed with this one.

As a travel agent: The hotel looks historical from the outside but inside is modern beauty. My sister didn't want to leave the room! Free Wi-Fi and a gorgeous set up of furniture. Outstanding service for everyone. Breakfast was about 9 Euro and also delicious. Hotel Espana is located near many sites and the train so it makes it easy for travel and not spend money on taxis. The bedrooms are clean and comfy. A terrific place to visit! only regret is nothing looked Spanish at Espana.
