My husband and I stayed here in April 2019. Great hostel right on the beach! The staff knew English and was super helpful. The rooms are very basic but that was to be expected. Super cute beach vibe. The hostel is extremely clean.
You get 10L of water to shower per night you stay there — this is standard on Playa Blanca! You can break it up into 5L and 5L if you want to take two quick showers.
There’s electricity from 6:30pm — 12:30am each night so you have time to charge you devices & can fall asleep with the fan provided in the room.
The staff was helpful in getting any tours booked we wanted and even a taxi home.
Bonus pro tip: this hostel is right next door to one of the only hostels/restaurants with Wi-Fi. You can eat there, get the Wi-Fi password & itll work anytime there is electricity!
Highly recommend! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience on Playa Blanca.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ichtus hostel. The hosts are very nice, helpful and are amazing cooks. The breakfast is delicious and they have very good fishes and coconut rice for lunch or dinner. Their dog named Mossi and the cats are so cute! It's almost a zoo therapy. Please know that the pets do not have access to the rooms. Also, the beach is wonderful and the price for tours, food and other goods is not too expensive.
Before going to any places at playa blanca, you must know that there are no services (water, electricity, etc) and the road to get there is quite bumpy and uncomfortable. We do not recommend taking the bus to pasecaballos since there are only motorcycles and old, poor conditioned cars (colectivos) that can bring you to the beach. Even if we felt a bit scared and uncomfortable, the people did not try to steal or harm us in any ways. We still think that it was totally worth it.

My girlfriend and I loved our 1 night stay here. It was just the two of us staying at the hostel which probably made it even more tranquil. The accommodation is basic and it was at times challenging sleeping under a mosquito net, in the heat, without air conditioning or a fan, but we enjoyed the simple life for one night. The guy who worked at the hostel was extremely helpful and made sure we were happy at all times. He didn’t speak much English but we all patiently communicated through Google Translate. He arranged for our boat trip back to Cartagena. The toilet and showers were basic but were far nicer than others I found on Playa Blanca.
