My boyfriend and I had such a great time at this lodge. We're not big nature/hiking people, and when our guide, Berly, saw that I was struggling with a short hike, he cut me a walking stick to help me feel more confident. Speaking of Berly, he was the best! He was so knowledgeable about everything: he can identify any bird by their call, he taught us about the different trees that we walked past, he has eagle eyes and can find and identify creatures so far away I could barely see them with binoculars, and he answered all our wierd questions. The food at the lodge was very yummy, you can definitely tell that it was all cooked with love and the portions are very generous. We loved all the activities that our guide took us on: an afternoon/evening boat ride to see birds, monkeys, and alligators, a sunrise hike, a morning boat ride to see river otters, fishing for piranhas, a tour of a family farm (we got to taste banana and cacao fruit! ), and (because I begged them to) a boat ride up the river to find Capybaras. Capys are my favorite animals and we saw four different groups of these snobby adorable animals, even some teeny tiny babies! Life achievement accomplished!

This is a spectacular place for anyone searching peace amidst the jungle, by a lake. The lodge is owned by the Ese Eja community, who are welcoming and kind and helpful. They showed us their farm, hw to fish, how to harvest Brazil nuts in the forest and much more. We had our yoga retreat there and it surely shall long be remembered cordially.
There are four bungalows with bathrooms with two beds and then rooms with two or three beds which do not have their own bathroom.
One has to walk through the jungle forest to get to the lodge for about 30 minutes from the boat (Tambopata river).
There is only cold water available but in the temperatures there it´s just fine.
The food was delicious.

An experience of a lifetime!
The lodge is beautiful and living quarters are what you would expect for a lodge in the middle of the jungle. They only turn electricity on for a few hours a day but it really made the experience that much better because you don't need it while you are there.
Jamie was our tour guide and he was fantastic. He took us on a night walk and long day hike through the jungle. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We had a great time exploring and getting to know the habitat.
The food and service was excellent. Fresh local juices and food was served everyday and it delicious. And, they provided plenty of fresh drinking water for our entire stay.
The only warning I will give is that the trip to and from the airport is interesting. The roads of Puerto Maldonado are poor so be prepared to be bumped around for about an hour before getting on the boat.
Overall, it exceeded our expectations and I hope to visit again one day.
Thank you Tres Chimbadas!
