My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Medicis for 5 nights in early October 2016 and were very happy with our booking. We are relatively cheap travellers, so the basic necessities of the room suited us just fine. We had a double (twin beds pushed together) room, with tea/coffee making facilities on a small desk, a large mini fridge, a double wardrobe, and a TV. There was a safe in the wardrobe which we didn't use, and I believe the key had to be retrieved from reception. There was enough space for us to both walk about and dress with ease. The bathroom consisted of a walk-in double shower (which seemed to get water everywhere! ), toilet, sink, large wall mirror and hairdryer. We had a road-facing room with a balcony that was lovely to sit out on in the evening, if not a little scary due to the openness of the railings! We slept most nights with the patio doors open, however the local traffic noise in the morning was quite loud, even at four floors up. The breakfast was plentiful in the compact basement breakfast room, continental offerings of bread, cheese, ham, omelette, with cereal options, yoghurts and fruit. Juices and a hot drinks machine were also at our disposal. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as a cheaper alternative to somewhere in the heart of Barcelona. It has great transport links, with the Sant Pau dos de Maig metro stop near by, and the Av. Gaudi that heads straight towards the Sagrada Familia.

Stayed in June this year for 3 nights. The room is small, but everything you need is there. The beds are comfortable, the linen and towels are clean, the hairdryer is there, the kettle and tea accessories are there, cleaning daily. The staff are friendly. For breakfast, each of our family could choose something. Especially liked the Spanish omelet. But the most beautiful thing about this hotel is the location!

Good location regarding the metro and downtown, around a lot of cheap cafes and supermarkets, BUT the rooms are choked and can be overlooking the stairs.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel excellent value and although away from the centre, still a good location with plenty of restaurants close by.

The Medicis Hotel has a very cheap price, something unusual in Barcelona and Eixample. The location is good and the room is very nice. The worst the noise. The walls are paper, I travel a lot and this is one of the hotels with the worst insulation if not the worst of all I have been to. Also, breakfast starts at 7:30, a little late for those of you who come to work. For all this I have to rate it with 2 stars.

I honestly cannot understand how this hotel has such a high rating. If you are looking for a nice hotel with good location, please do yourself a favour and stay away from this place! The location is really bad — directly on the very busy crossroads and far away from the city centre (about 3, 5 km). The only thing that is nearby is Sagrada Familia but that is all. If you get a room with window to the crossroads you will not sleep all night — the streets is so loud that even if the window is closed there are all noises from the street in your room. Fortunately, we were able to switch the room and we got one with the window to inner courtyard. The good thing is that we finally could sleep without noises from the street but we got room with the "view" to ugly fire escape and to the wall, so there was almost no sunlight in the room. In addition to this, there were iron bars in the window — just terrible. Another problem are thin walls — you can hear almost anything from the neighbourh rooms and hallways. Moreover in both rooms that we had, was a big piece of ice in the fridge and the fridge was not cooling as it is supposed to. Next thing is shower — if you take a shower, you will flood the bathroom… And even the price is not that cheap when you are dealing with all these things. The only reason I give 2 stars is because of the receptionists as they were helpful and nice.

Comfortable place, with all the comforts. Reception 24 hours. The receptionist in the morning very efficient.

Good place with great ratio of price, location and service. Espiecially location is favourable close to bus station and Sagrada Famiglia. Breakfast is ok. The lack of regular stairs can be minus for some.

Very nice hotel and good price.

Room clean but small. Excellent location. The negative note the isolation of the rooms, you hear everything from the street and adjoining rooms.

We stayed in May 3 days before our cruise at this hotel. The room was very small and the view of a grid and a fire escape was also not great, but it was clean and modern. The staff were super friendly and always had tips for a successful Barcelona day ready. The roof terrace is the hammer, you can see through the houses gorges to the city Beach. Breakfast was also good for this price range. If you are looking for cheap accommodation with a great value for money, Fündigt here. Would definitely book the hotel again.

Spacious bathroom and cozy room; The Infiernillo is very practical for heating water and coffee packets. Very attentive receptionist, always ready to provide directional graphic information. Located in quiet neighborhood, a stone's throw from the Sagrada Familia. Repetiríamos, no doubt.

Good hotel. Great location… rooms are basic but clean.

It was a very good place to visit. The negative point is the insulation of the rooms.

Very central But the isolation of the building is very poor to sleep impossible a lot of noise.

Awful place it's not in a nice area it's noisy both with traffic you can hear other rooms flushing their toilets we booked a double room and got 2 single beds put together with 1 pillow no option of another 1 paper cups on the tea tray and dirty empty fridge for the free mini bar 1 lift for 6 floors breakfast was dire no fresh fruit very few options for cereals pre packaged croissants no cafe/lounge/bar/ restaurant to have a refreshment after travelling.

Great place to stay. Very helpful at reception. Lovely clean rooms and our room was clean daily. Great for the metro and buses and some lovely small places to eat and drink close by. If we get chance to come back to Barcelona would certain book Medicis Hotel again.

Horrible. Understandable my wife and I to spend a quiet night and were offered a room on the mezzanine (La 002), charging in advance. Starting at 6.30 we woke up because the hotel's plumbing passed over the room and were either showers or water chains, you would hear absolutely all the water in the rooms. The girl at the front desk, Mihaela, was charming, but the manager of the place refused to find a solution that could please both sides. We had to make a formal claim. Not recommended.

Not bad not good just an average hotel. Just the breakfast looks not worth at all if you were thinking about book with it.

The location is great, near the metro and buses. Easy walks to most tourist attractions if you have the time to meander and explore the city. The staff are very kind and helpful especially Carolina. Lovely little balconey, adequate breakfasts. Just be aware on a busy street and be prepared.

Lovely hotel, clean, modern and in a perfect location, the reception staff were very helpful too. It's very close to Segrada Familiar and all tubes and buses. We stayed here as a base for the F1 testing, the circuit was only a train ride away. A bus for camp nou leaves from just outside the front, so its a win, win situation if youre a football fan! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Clean, modern and excellent location. I had a little single room, with a comfortable bed and immaculate en suite shower and wc. I even had a little balcony with a chair to sit out in the sun. And I had 2 days of sun even in February! The area is near Sagrada Familias and the avenue Gaudi is of splendid proportions. However it is not too touristy and it felt like an authentic community. There are many places to eat and drink and taxis outside the hotel to take you wherever you want at a reasonable price. I loved it!

In the Sagrada Familia area, cosy rooms and friendly staff. A little too audible traffic in the evening hours.

On the first night one of the wall plugs blew up and knocked out the power for the whole floor which which the hotel staff didn't care about.

I was with my partner makes some days. They gave us a room that was separated of the of to the side with a door locked, is all oia, without any privacy. Leads jumped and occasionally we stayed without electricity. The minibar to noise had to disconnect it. Not us gave bed of marriage. Dirty water heater. Had the heating inoperative and had to sleep with two blankets to less than 20 degrees… in end a full disaster.

Nice place, with nice people. The only drawback was the proficiency in speaking English by their hotel operators.

Basic hotel. Expect nothing but the essentials. Can be quite noisy as it is an older building with little modernisation.

Were in April 2014 for 5 nights there. Simple clean Hotel which is very centrally located. Room and bathroom are relatively small. But as the whole day on the way, Yes you only for Sleeping there. This is completely sufficient. The next U Bahn Station is 5 minutes away. The Sagrada Familia are it to foot about 15 minutes.

The rooms are small, but the location of the hotel is super, just like the Breakfast :-)! Directly in front of the door there is a bus stop, where buses depart at short intervals in all directions, such as the beach, downtown, or the stadium! The Metro is just around the corner, just like the Sagrada Familia :-)! At the reception you can book all sorts of excursions, such as the Tour of the Camp Nou, including the Museum! The ladies at the reception are very helpful and nice! Everything is in English, one even speaks English! Yes, and the Wifi in the Hotel is also very good! Restaurants and Fast Food shops, everything is nearby! We were thrilled :-). Thank you!

Excellent facilities, perfect location, super clean and economical! Preferred.

Simple but clean hotel.

Good value for money, accepts dogs (and this isn't a luxury in the Center City), rooms are classic size and own, SDB impeccable, the balcony is a bit staggering and the dog isn't fan, decoration is tasteful, good location (close to metro and Sagrada), beware the air conditioning works backwards.
Wifi is free and very friendly staff.
Only downside: the noise for the rooms on the street, it's 8:00, Barcelona is in the works and the song of the Jackhammer is not a treat.
In fact; think of any method anti-noise. Earplugs, etc.

I was staying on the street side on 5th fl. The building is, I guess quite old and no sound proofing is done on the walls and door to balcony. Ear plug is must! otherwise room is clean with free Wi-Fi.
