Decent place to stay. The price is right for what you get. The area around the hotel has plenty of homeless and drug users. Be prepared for some additional noise at night.

Price is right and service was excellent. Will try to stay again in this European style hotel. They just finished the lobby and rest room renovation.

Good place, nice owner, comfy rooms, restrooms and bath in the hallway tho so you have to share, but it's worth it for the other comforts.

This is a great hotel for the price (booked on Hostel World). However, DO NOT PARK HERE! Our car was broken into (see below). It is a no frills, small but recently updated hotel. It is NOT for everyone. If you are used to chain hotels with all the ammenties, you will be disappointed. We are budget travelers/backpackers so it fit our needs perfectly. There are two very clean bathrooms on each floor (two floors) with a sink in your room. You must ring a bell/buzzer to enter and upon entering, there is a slight smell (think spices in a poorly ventilated space). There isn't air conditioning but the window does open and there is a fan in each room. Towel, toiletries, toilet paper, hair dryer are in each room. For $67 a night, this is an amazing deal. Again, DO NOT PARK HERE! We had our back window smashed and all of our ski gear stolen. There are a ton of homeless and drug users in this area (there is a non-profit organization across the street that they hang out in/around). We try to see the best in people but were unfortunately let down on this trip. The money we saved on booking hotel was pocket change compared to what we spent on repairing our window and now to replace our gear (plus the time spent with police and our insurance company). If you choose to avoid this concern, be smart and park in front of the convenience store across the street (that's where we parked) because they have a surveillance camera which will help with the police report.

Central location, stairs not fit for cardiac, no elevator (upload heavy suitcases an adventure) much homeless nearby.
The rooms were very small and the room was very comfortable and the room was very good.
If you hire with Booking keep in mind that they charge you in advance and that you can not make free cancellations.

The front staff were very friendly and the rooms and bathrooms were kept clean. I'm not giving a good rating because the rooms smell weird and there were bed bugs. There is also a lot of noise at night. I stayed one night because I was on a budget. I would rather pay the extra for an attached bathroom, less noise and no bed bugs if I was staying more than one night.

I stayed there during the Gay Pride Week festivities and the Owners were exceptionally kind, courteous and very friendly/helpful. They even lowered my room charge as it was doubled during the festivities so I could stay. It was real quiet and the Best stay I've had anywhere in years. Near food frolic downtown and gateways to N S E W… Do yourself a favor and stay there you'll be 1000% SATISFIED!

I lived in this hotel in 2001, and have been an occasional visitor and guest. I absolutely adore the family whose hotel it is, and I've always felt safe and at home there, quite happy…

Really friendly staff and close to Fitness SF gym, Twitter / Uber / Squarespace HQ.

Had a great stay. Rooms and facilities are clean, room service is prompt, and you are 15 minutes from everything. Will stay again.

It's a good solution for the money. Great location. Has all it needs. Drawback: It has no airco so you need to open the windows. This can be very noisy if your room faces the road.

We had to pay $150 extra for deposit, and we were never told about it so that was kind of surprising. Anyway we got it back after we left. Clean and cozy rooms, every floor has a shared bathroom, and even though that was new for me, other guests were really respectful about it.

The outside of the building is surrounded by homeless people. There is no hotel parking so if you go mon-sat, you better wake up before 7am for the street meters. The rooms are extremely small and smell like cigs. The smoke detector was covered in our room & there wasn't an AC nor a vent (just a small fan). The room didnt even have a white sheet for us to cover up in. The toilet and shower were in a hallway. Overall, it was terrible and should be avoided. Stay near the bay area and far away from downtown.

The inside did not seem as run down as you might think from the outside. The paper numbers on the doors and shared hallway bathrooms are unorthodox, but you get what you pay for really. Great restaurant right downstairs.

The location is basically in downtown and not too far from most attractions. The room itself includes everything you need and was very clean. The hotel itself was also very clean and never smelled bad. Only downside is that there is no ceiling fan or air conditioning and my room got very stuffy all the time despite my window being always open. The toilet was excellent, nice and spacious with good water pressure as well as proper hot water. Only complaint here is that there was no sink in the toilet to wash your hands but there is one in your room so not too big of an issue. The staff were very friendly and responded very quickly to inquries and door opening.

Good price, Good location, friendly and helpful staff, musty smell overall, the only ventilation was the window (that had no screen), bed spread had burn holes, there were hairs between the top & bottom sheets, the shared bathroom had used towels on the floor.

Bed covers were dirty, and the chairs had stains. Didn't really speak to anyone. Noisy, window was stuck and loud street noise. Homeless people hang out in the surrounding area.

Getting a hotel room for 100 a night downtown San Francisco is a good deal. The room was small, but clean. For the price I was pleasantly surprised.

Visited Ram's Hotel because my friends were staying here for the night. The hotel is renovated but the rooms are tiny and the hotel has a murky smell as soon as you walk into the building. The plumbing seems weak but the bathroom in the room they were staying at was clean. Overall, I wouldn't personally stay here unless I really needed to… But if you're TRULY indifferent about the quality/luxury of the room you are going to stay in, Ram's Hotel seems passable to sleep in for a night.
