Haven’t even made it to the Hotel and it’s already been a horrible experience. I have been calling, emailing and commenting on their site trying to get a hold of ANYBODY that works there. Not a single response or answered phone call. Look at their reviews and see for yourself, rats bed bugs. I would say their customer service is horrible but I haven’t even been helped by anybody so instead I’ll just say that their customer service is non existent. Do not book here.

Awful neighbourhood! it's so unfortunate for such a quaint hotel. Need better cleaning staff, found a loaded syringe in our fridge when we checked in and found someone's dirty socks on the microwave.

Would never recommend anyone to stay here. The room we booked 3 months ago was not available they said bad luck. Terrible location and staff very unprofessional. Instead of staying 6 nights we stayed 1 and got out of there.

New, clean but very small with limited facilities, no fridge in room etc, also very noisy (we stayed on level 2, so probably quieter further up) Staff are friendly, helpful and happy to give advice. Be warned however this hotel is in a pretty seedy part town, hotel is surrounded by homeless and can be quite confronting if you're not expecting it. We never had an issue but we're a bit uncomfortable at times, this probably makes me sound awful but in aide of completeness it is worth noting.

Great hotel in Civic Center. Cute old building nicely redone with small quaint rooms. Plus there's a bar which is open until midnight. Reasonably priced with a slow check in process.

The noise from the street at night took some getting used to. Wouldn’t record walking around streets at night. Overall though amenities are excellent, location is well placed in SF. If you’re looking for a comfortable place to crash this is a great option.

The Hotel was safe and comfortable, but the surrounding area is a little sketchy. The room itself was small, but clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice as well. The staff was friendly and they even let us check in early, which was so convenient for our trip. I loved our stay here. Note: The Hotel does not serve a breakfast of any kind, so be aware of this. We went to Brenda's, just down the street and got delightful beignets.

Very nice hotel. Small rooms but to be expected in San Francisco. The rooms are clean, modern, usable and have private A/C under your control. We had a mini fridge too. They are free coffee and bottled water in the room and lobby. The staff was super nice. Jeff from Sausalito is quite the funny guy. Another person from the staff practiced his French with us, unfortunately I forgot his name. Although the location of the hotel is very nice for tourists, be aware that Eddy St. Is a very sad sight and may make you uncomfortable if you don’t deal well with homelessness. If the case, simply go North on Polk and turn East a few streets up. If you go East on Eddy, you will quickly realize how lucky you are to be on vacation staying in a hotel while others sleep on the streets.

A hotel is a part of the experience, right? My experience here was such that I’d been avoiding SF for a while until l had to return for business (and stayed elsewhere, which changed my picture of the city — I love it now). The biggest problem was not the hotel itself, but the neighborhood. It’s plain very dangerous after dusk. Once you’re inside, you can still hear what’s going on outside (and trust me it’s not what you want to be listening to). That’s why, even if the hotel had no problems (which was not the case), I’d never stay there again.

One of the best hotels I stayed in years. Room isn’t the biggest but since I only sleep in it it’s fine. Staff is above and beyond friendly and helpful. Definite recommendation and would love to stay here again.

We’ve just stayed in this hotel for 6 nights and I can honestly say it’s a brilliant hotel. Staff are friendly and the hotel itself is immaculate.
Our room was cleaned daily with towels and sheets getting changed daily too. Wi-Fi was great and the water and snacks in the room daily were a nice touch.
The rooms were a bit on the small side but they had a coffee machine, toiletries and air conditioning.
If you come out of the hotel and take a right you have about a 2 mile walk to Fisherman’s wharf. This is a lovely walk. Take a left and that’s you in a really rough part of San Francisco. We didn’t feel unsafe in the slightest tho and we walked the road everyday we were there.
There is a lot of homeless and drug taking in the area but they don’t bother you at all. They’re just in their own little world!
It’s about a 10/15 minute walk to Union Square.
We would definitely stay in Hotel Epik again.

Do not stay here it is in a terrible location in San Fran. It is surrounded by people with severe mental health, drug and social problems on a scale I have never witnessed and I felt very unsafe. It is tragic and needs addressing but as a tourist you will not feel safe. We cancelled our booking after getting lost in the area, the hotel was not sympathetic. Do not stay here, it is cheap for a reason.

It was very nice. Austin, at the front desk, was just as professional as he could be — and friendly, too! I miss him already. The rooms are small but comfortable and the water in the shower gets nice and hot. It is clean as a whistle and they've added a cool new bar next door. It was really great value for the money. I'd love to go back.

This was an awesome hotel. The staff was very attentive and provided us with everything we needed. The bar was incredible!

Really enjoyed our stay! My girlfriend and I came up to the city to celebrate her birthday. It's walking distance to fisherman's wharf and the staff was friendly and accommodating. My only problems were that our room didn't have a fridge and there's no free parking ($40 until check out the following day). There's also a lot of drug addicts around and it's very noisy being right next to the street with thin windows, but that's the tenderloin for ya. Just turn up the TV and ignored it.

The room was a bit small but nothing wrong with that. It looks like it has been newly remodeled, everything was clean, and the front desk attendants were nice and polite. The only down side was the location, only a mile or so from Union Square but it was not in a good/decent part of the city. The boyfriend and I were usually back between 6 and 7 mostly because of the suspicious looking people outside (druggies). But of course that's nothing bad on the hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The area is very bad. Full of homeless and people drogandose strong. For most that don't do or ask for anything. A little bit scary. Room very small for 2 people but has plenty of design and looks, the owners/employees put a lot of work for the passes well.

Actually everything ok! Location rather in a neighborhood where there are a lot of homeless people right in the corner. Rooms quite small otherwise Ok.

The hotel was very noisy. The neighborhood is filled with junky certainly not aggressive but also very noisy. It smells like ganja because cannabis is legal in California recently. The hotel is also an eccentric hair near the Civic Center but not Union Square. Also the rooms are really small and do not have cabinets to tidy up his belongings. Instead you have to take advantage of a last minute offer with a broken price (€80) rather than paying full pot by booking in advance.

Small room in a dangerous neighborhood.

What a great hotel and great service. The area has some homeless caracteres but it is not dangerous at all. Coffee for free in the lobby and room. Water and cookies for free in the room. Close to a great area. For the price it is way beyond my expectations. I've traveled a lot and this is a normal size room for a large populated City. Totally new and tech savvy. Loved it!

Not recommended at all. Reasons: -Smallest room I've ever stayed! Please mind the size of the room before you book. Feels even smaller than it is declared. -Doesn't even have a wardrobe! -Smallest bed I've ever slept! Please mind the size of the bed before you book. -Doesn't even have a "real" window! It has one but only a few inches away from a wall, no daylight at all! -Location is very close to most of the popular places in town and looks ok at the beginning but then you realize that it is not safe at all! It's located in the center of an area that homeless people (mostly drug addicts) shelter. There might be nothing to do with the location but at least they might not allow to book that room for 2 persons! By the way, we tried to change the room but they said they are fully booked and we had to stay there. Bad experience at the end. Going back home tired.

Came here to visit SF for three days two nights. Price was amazing but the reviews my gf has seen was a bit off and left us anxious. Upon arrival we found that we had nothing to worry about. Services was good and the room was clean and bug free. A bit on the small side and the walls are thin but for the price it is an amazing deal. 5/5 would come back again.

Modern rooms, entirely new. No breakfast but enough to take Nespresso coffee for free in every room and juice.

Pay Attention to fines for parking and especially for washing streets one day on 2. Read the panels well.

If you want to know how awful a customer service can be you should check this place. They have the most unprofessional rude staff member I have ever seen in my life! We checked in today and went to the room and realized that it was made for kittens! So tiny and uncomfortable. So we booked another hotel and went downstairs to checkout — after 10 minuets of checking in. The receptionist said: ok but you’re not getting your money backs. We said that we didn’t expect the room to be so small and we didn’t even unpack our bags so why are we getting charged full amount and not half of it at least? He said “you’re not getting a dime back”. I can’t believe that I just heard that! Even if that’s the “rule” a receptionist should try to resolve the problem and explain how thing go and try to keep a happy customer. After all people care about the service more than anything. He was so rude and unprofessional at all level that I could describe! We said to him that we don’t care about the money and we’re actually checking-in in a hotel with double that room rate, so money wasn’t the issue here the issue is that attitude. He replied: “ the law and I’m telling you you’re not getting a dime and that’s the end of that conversation”. I’m laughing now and still can’t believe that a person like this could ever be employed let alone in a customer facing job! Thank god we have social networks now so everyone can know ahead of time how great/awful any product or service is actually is.

Very good hotel at a good cost.

This place was great! The room was very well appointed and the small amenities in the room and lobby are a nice touch. The staff was very nice and friendly from check in and check out. Location is perfect if you want to get around central city. The beds are super comfy to! Overall Hotel Epik made my stay in San Francisco amazing! Will stay again.

This hotel is a great new place. I almost didn't want to say how nice it is just to keep it my secret. Everything is new and very hip. People have mentioned the neighborhood in previous reviews, but do not let that scare you away. It's the city, there are homeless people. If you do not know this, you must live a bubble. Take the chance. You will not be disappointed!

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The lobby was clean and very modern looking, with a TV and faux fireplace, water, and a Nespresso machine. And it smelled really good. The staff was super friendly and helpful at check in and check out. We wanted to grab breakfast after check out, but before we headed home, and the front desk gal let us store our bags and had our car retrieved from valet parking so it was out front when we were done eating. Oh, and $40 valet parking — you can't beat that! The room was small, but had all the amenities you would expect to find at a high-end hotel, including robes. There was plenty of room for the two of us and our stuff — if you were traveling with a family, it might be a little cozy. The location was better than I expected, and we felt comfortable walking everywhere we needed to go, including back from a concert at 11:30 p. M. The grittier part of the Tenderloin is a few blocks away, and yes, there are homeless people around and some sleeping on the sidewalk and stuff, but it's San Francisco, homeless folks are everywhere. All in all, I would totally stay here again, and would recommend it to friends.

New hotel with a cool design. Staff is great and the rooms are modern. Area is dangerous at night.

Room small but very comfortable and cared for. Good detail in the coffee and water complimentary.

The single queen bed room is small but cozy and very modern feeling. The entire place is very chic. Location is very central in the city but the immediate neighborhood isn't great. I took a ride share 1-2 miles in whichever direction when going out. Overall, it's a clean bed in a hip building with everything you'd expect.

Well located and decorated. There is No breakfast, but include in room nespresso, mineral water and some cookies. The staff very attentive and helpful. The against, the rooms are too small.

Nice and new. Clean place. Friendly staff. Accommodations are up to date. Rooms are small. The neighborhood isn't the greatest. It definitely did the job. I'd liken it to a posh hostel.

Modern and service very friendly.

It was a great little renovated hotel in the middle of the city. A little bit shady at night, but where is it not when in the city! They offer garage parking at a cheaper cost than other places. Got a great deal on a room and wasn't disappointed with the amenities. The size of the room was pretty small but wasn't too big of a deal since we weren't there all day! No restaurant but the front desk gave some options for delivery.

I had an amazing experience at this hotel. For people not familiar with San Francisco, this hotel is in the Tenderloin area and you will see transients and a rougher crowd. But it is San Francisco, a big city, with a big city population, which includes transients. If you do not wish to see these people. Keep your sensitive @$$ at home.
Despite the minimal street noise and rough crowd, my stay was amazing. The hotel is newer with hardwood floors and updated decor. The rooms are small (again, SF, what do you expect) but my bf is 6'4 and we were comfortable. The staff was super welcoming even though my bf drank ALL of the complementary nesspresso (? ) as well as ate all of the free pretzels. As far as boutique hotels go, no gym, no pool, no parking, I would still rate it at 5 for the service and cleanliness alone.
If you need a gym and parking: 24 hour is down the street on Van Ness and there are plenty of reasonable lots two blocks down on Turk.

When we first arrived late at night staff were friendly and helpful. The room was fairly small something not used to though was our first trip to San Fran but it was comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good too. Location wise was great an easy walk around and quick uber to the waterfront.

Everything's fine except the surroundings. There's too many crazy hobos on the street in the neighborhood. Creepy.

Very nice hotel, modern rooms and cared for, a little small. There is also a device to connect easily to the TV. Very nice bathroom with glass shower door. Bathrobes included. The problem is the area full of bums is strange people, very noisy street even at night. We used the taxi every night to avoid crossing it on foot.

We lived here for four days, and every day the impression handsed:
One day. Very modern hotel a lot of nice little things like Nespresso in a room with updated capsules every day, games in the lobby, safe, closing with a proximity card, and so on. The only minus, very small and very close, we had a deluxe and we could barely fit.
Two days. Very thin walls, the cleaners are vrubaja in the morning and the music is on the phone for all loudness, hollow mops and knocking doors so that it's impossible to sleep. The next room is full of noise.
Three days. The maids don't know English. Three times in the morning with the lady, and we literally told her we'd go out in two hours, so we could clean up the room. In the end, we haven't cleaned the room. Let's go get some clean towels. The concierge did not even apologize and looked at us as if we were asking for handouts.
As a result, the impression of all of this is extremely negative. If you want to have a good vacation, I suggest you choose a better hotel.

Look, San Francisco is a very expensive place as it is. This hotel is conveniently located close to all the places you want to go, but way more affordable than what's out there. Considering parking is anywhere from 50 to 75+ per night in most hotels here, HOTEL EPIK takes care of both, your stay in a nice/comfortable room, and 40 bucks valet parking all night. No complaints, rooms could be bigger but then again you should be out sight seeing. Do it. :)

Like other guests said, the rooms are small and quite noisy at night, but the decor is very modern, pleasant and pratical. The staff was very nice and helpful! Kudos for the coffee machine in the lobby and the rooms!

A hotel in downtown San Francisco with a very modern décor. It has a wide variety of basic products for customer use such as cafes, biscuits and water that are included in the room and are appreciated in these times. While the area is not particularly pretty at night, I'm afraid that's common in all centers of the United States.

The hotel and rooms were very clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Only bad thing was how small the rooms were. Would be perfect for one person or couple.

Well, I have to say I was overly impressed with this hotel. Here's my thing; no hotel is perfect. I've stayed at The Ritz and I've stayed at Motel 6. For me it's not about how "fancy" or how it looks; it's how you take care of me while I'm there. Greeting you by your name; asking if they can help you; assisting with tickets and things. This hotel and all of Its staff go above and beyond. I got to speak with each of them about things during my stay, great conversations, amazing personalities and their all trying to make this hotel the best. I'll be staying at Hotel Epik from here on out. Location is amazing. They will do great and will become a San Francisco hot spot! I told them they need to get a bar soon. Great design updated technology (TV, Apple oriented media center) and good coffee, nice new staff willing to help. Rooms are a bit small and walls paper thin. Some rooms have no external windows. I heard ppl talk all night long, since they weren't loud I couldn't really ask them to stop.
