Wonderful, peaceful place. Friendliest staff. Delicious breakfast with homemade scones. We were there two times and we are planning on coming back dividing our time in Massachusetts between Briarcliff and Red Lion Inn.

Such a clever idea to turn a mid-century roadside motel into something modern and chic! Property was extremely clean; comfortable beds with great sheets! Rooms could use fluffier heavier comforters which management said was coming soon! Excellent morning coffee only wish it could have been hotter! Will definitely return!

Wonderful place! I stayed there recently with my wife. Location is perfect, at the bottom of Monument Mountain which has terrific trails and one of the best hike of the region. The motel is clean, edgy and comfortable with a killer gas firepit where we did smores. Management and staff extra nice. Great place all around.

Stayed here recently with my husband and 4 year old daughter. The new owners have turned what was already a gem into a capital GEMSTONE. It's charming, clean, has all the modern amenities you need with the bucolic quiet you desire. Steps away from the superb hiking on Monument Mountain and the dining and shopping scene in downtown Great Barrington. It's a nice place for all ages, too — — stylish, but not overrun with hipsters. And the outdoor fire pit is such a lovely touch. Highly recommend!

We stayed here for one night recently and it was an unexpected discovery! Presenting as a typical 50s roadside motel, the property has been revamped into a hip motel which rivals some of the more upscale properties in the Berkshires. Cute, clean rooms and a sweet 'office' communal space in the center, a cool fire pit, and a perfect location right near Stockbridge and just outside of Great Barrington. The motel is right across the street from the hiking trails of Monument Mountain, which are highly rated in the Berkshires, and also convenient to Butternut ski resort. We will be back.

Adorable, chic, updated, 50's motel with great free coffee and muffins in the morning. Friendly staff make this place complete. We stayed for the Thanksgiving weekend and couldn't have been happier with our choice. It is directly across the street from Monument Mountain and short drive to local restaurants. Reasonable prices and they allow dogs for a small fee (but you must book a dog room. )

A very cozy place for a good getaway. The price has to come down some though.

My stay was five stars for sure. Everyone that works here has been exceptionally friendly and very helpful with suggestions as to where to go. The room was perfect for a weekend escape. Very clean and bright and just what was needed for the weekend. Best yet was sitting outside on a cool pre-autumn evening around the amazing fire pit under the stars.

BEST OF THE BERKSHIRES at the Briarcliff Motel! Just love the setting inside and outside! As soon as you step out of the car onto the property you know you've arrived in the beautiful Berkshires! Majestic view of Monument Mountain, fresh country air, beautifully designed outdoor seating / firepit area amid a peaceful setting with birch trees and flowers all welcome you! As you enter the tasteful, country modern reception area you are greeted by wonderfully friendly hosts. They are genuinely happy to see you and help you make the most of your visit. This cozy, common area is just perfect for breakfast looking out onto the mountain, a quiet read of magazines or a local book, or a nice chat with another visitor. The simple yet stylish rooms offer very comfortable beds with lovely bedding, nice seating, excellent Wi-Fi, fridge, TV/DVD player and sparkling clean fresh bathrooms. My husband, son and I have been guests at the Briarcliff Motel EVERY year for the last 7 years! We feel so happy upon each of our stays. We recommend this modern B&B wholeheartedly!

Great Location and hip decor… this hotel is unique in it's location which is surrounded by woods and right across the street from Monument Mountain. It truly is a motel, but remodeled and made to be more hip and appealing. They take great effort to inform you of current ongoings about town and will help you with your trip however they can. My only complaints were the noisy A/C, however this distracted you from the loud bang of neighbors doors at 5am. I think honestly, if it were a bit cheaper, I would have liked it more (we paid $275/night). For us it was worth it because they take dogs! Oh yeah, shampoo & doggie bags would have been nice.

Just completed a two day stay and I highly recommend this place. Gracious hosts, comfortable rooms, great views and convenient to Great Barrington and Stockbridge.

Nicely updated and very clean. Fresh local muffins, scones and coffee in the lobby every morning! Owners Richard and Clare are super nice and helpful. We had one day to explore. Clare gave us a full breakdown of the area based on our interests, complete with area map and suggested shops & restaurants in each town.

Nice place if you don't mind not having a hair dryer, micro-wave, coffee maker, ice maker on premises, soft towels or loud air conditioner in your room. Over rated and over priced.

Stayed here for our anniversary weekend, loved every thing about it, it was warm and welcoming, loved the decor, our room was great, the bed was so comfortable, the breakfast fantastic, farm fresh and so delicious, would definitely come back and recommend!

Room is nice. Problem is there were bugs in the bathroom. When I spoke with the owner she said it was because it was 70 degrees last week. Not a good excuse. I've been in motels and they didn't have bugs at 70 degrees. I was grossed out.

We stayed at the briarcliff this week and it was a pure delight! claire and richard are so warm and welcoming. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean, modern and bright. Lovely linens, simple artwork. The public spaces are so well done. The main reception room doubles as breakfast space, sitting room, hang out room, whatever you make of it. We got great dining advice from the lovely young woman at the front desk in the evening. Breakfast was delicious: home made granola, muffins, scones, fruit with coffee and tea available all day. We will definitely be back.

We were looking for a place in Great Barrington where we could stay with our dog and the Briarcliff came up on our search. We were extremely surprised when we arrived to find a place where the owners greeted us warmly and fed us a simple breakfast of extraordinary quality — — homemade granola, homemade scones and breads, great coffee and fruit. It is more a B&B than a motel. We sat at a table with other guests and chatted and ate. I wholeheartedly recommend the Briarcliff for any visit to the Berkshires.

This is a wonderful place, more B&B than Motor Lodge. When we asked in the morning about the nearest laundromat the owners actually did our laundry for us! Great simple breakfast, clean and uniquely modern. Absolutely recommended. The place has been renovated and is much nicer than the pictures here show.

Claire and Richard are the new owners and are renovating the nice little motel. They went beyond our expectations when a tornado (or something close) passed nearby. The room was spotless and when the power went off the went for emergency lights, offered us a cold beverage and had muffins and coffee in the morning. We felt really cared about and appreciated their attention. Ignore earlier reviews as they have taken over!
