A friend of mine, a wonderful person, stayed there recently, and was treated horribly. I'll never stay at nor recommend this tragic facility.
Great locationlovely helpful Staffquirky Roomsvery clean.
This hotel is so wonderful! I, unfortunately, had a horrible fall across the street from the hotel. A jogger and someone from the hotel called 911 as I was bleeding like crazy. They stayed with me until the ambulance came. When I returned to the hotel and stayed another night they could not have been more kinder and helpful. I can’t wait until I can return as I live in California. Thank you so much. Please keep alert for a little thank you gift from me. Sincerely, Donna.
THIEVES! the manager Jaime charged my credit card an additional $200 thinking I wouldn’t notice and I almost didn’t until she tried charging an additional $96 another day I caught on to the unscrupulous charges and called her to explain. She had no explanation and pretty much told me to go F*%# myself. She told me to call my bank and dispute the charges which I did, but the bank was no help either saying that the “merchant” did not want to refund me the money! OFCOURSE they don’t want to do Edmund the money they STOLE from me. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place unless you want to get robbed!
Nice quirky atmosphere. Helpful friendly staff. Inexpensive. Fantastic location.
My friends who visit stay here EVERY TIME, it’s so cute and fab. ❤️
We stayed at Thr Jane Hotel in 2017. It was our first time in NYC and we wanted to stay somewhere unique.
This hotel checked all our must have boxes.

Affordable ✔️ it was definately a highlight of our visit! When we make it back to NYC, you know there will only be one place for us to stay; The Jane Hotel. Thank you,
Mike and Tammy Filiault.
The best place to spend a few nights in NYC.
This is a budget hotel but it is a very cool budget hotel!
Special atmosphere and beautiful place. All members team are very kind.
Perfect location in West Manhattan, the vintage building is beautiful, and I loved the perfect little rooms! The staff was just lovely! Front Desk, Bellmen, Rooftop Bar Staff, Service Staff at the Old Rose and the Housekeepers! I love this hotel!
Location location location. And cheap given the location.
A surprise historical fact. This is where the Titanic survivors were lodged.
A very unique, attractive hotel. Me and my son have a smallest room but it’s good fun. Would like to visit again, particularly Halloween night.
The history, the decor, the staff. An amazing transformation — like stepping back in time. Always recommend and always enjoy!
The Jane has loads of character the staff are nice and it’s quite reasonably priced! Also it’s close to where I like to be when I’m in nyc.
My husband and I hosted a private cocktail reception for approximately 75 guests to celebrate our marriage on the rooftop of The Jane Hotel. We could not be more pleased with our experience! The Event Director, Lauren, is proactive and responsive, and was incredibly easy to work with as we ironed out the details of our event. The indoor-outdoor rooftop space is classy and uniquely decorated. We did not need to add a thing to the space. The highlight, of course, was the gorgeous views of the Hudson River and the sunset! Day of, we were provided with an ample staff to manage the event, keep the space clean and the (delicious) drinks flowing. Although they do allow for DJs, we utilized our own playlist and were extremely satisfied with in-house speaker system. We brought in outside catering, and the staff took care of all of the details. Overall, we are so happy that we found The Jane Rooftop and were able to host an unforgettable event for our friends and family.
On a tight budget yet want to take in the big Apple — the Jane is clean! Shared bathroom down the hall. Tight sleeping quarters. Perfect for the thin light packer. Booking the bunk bed rooms! TIME FOR A JANE HOTEL UPDATE! We stayed in one of the Captain’s Room which we found to be awesome! By the photos below will show the nice king Comfy bed! Nice and firm. Bathroom ensuite, balcony for morning coffee or a glass of your Favorite adult beverage. The front desk staff are there to assist the travelers! Thank You!
Stayed in a Captains room for three nights. The hotel is lovely and quirky, functional and comfortable. The details are charming, like the octagonal roof bar and even the wainscoting. The bigger room was hard to cool down on a humid June night-there's a tiny window a/c unit—but it has a powerful ceiling fan (and nice, cool summer cotton sheets) that kept it comfortable for sleeping. The shower is amazing for a hotel in this price range. We'll definitely stay here again.
I stay here all the time. It's got great service. It's an amazing location and the price is right. Note that your room will be tiny! But we never have an issue.
Great value for money. I had a cute single cabin which was pretty tight quarters but clean, cozy, and so well decorated! Love the little touches like always providing water in your room and slippers and robe despite being on the “budget” side of things. Shared bathrooms are mixed gender which made me feel a bit odd at first but was perfectly fine in the end.
I’ve stayed at the Jane twice. It has such friendly and helpful staff. Great price for NYC. I love the area. Convenient to subway and great food. I will be back.
It was my dual birthday celebration with my best friend — we were a group of 8 and they refused to let us in because we weren’t willing to get bottle service (2 bottle min). But any groups of 4 or less were able to get in without any having to do so. 2 more larger groups were declined entry after us. We asked why we couldn’t enter as 2 groups of 4 and the hotel promoter just said yelled “this is my party” and he makes the rules. My friend went down the line warning everyone of this threshold so they could say they were in smaller groups. They then threatened to call the cops because we were standing on the public sidewalk trying to figure out where to go instead. They probably need to rethink their customer service strategy… worst experience I’ve ever had at a Manhattan bar. Check out yelp for similar reviews on the bar experience — there’s a reason why they have 2.5 stars (which is generous in my opinion).

A good place hotel, Laceuille is good.
Interesting structure. Acceptable shared bathrooms and free bikes available. The rooms are very small An additional deposit is blocked in credit card at the due amount which is not unlocked at check out but after some time.
Lots of character. However, the sheets weren't fitted and there was no way other than cracking the window to regulate the temperature in the room. Guess that's part of the charm. Definitely an experience. They did hold our luggage for us until we could check in, which was nice.
Reporting to the better business bureau. They are shallow and discriminate. Unreal, had the bouncer creepily hit on me and then wouldn’t let me in the bar. I’ve never had issues until this place. Do not recommend. They make you wait in line for a half hour and still can reject you.
The hotel was an amazing experience. From the moment I walked in to the moment I checked out, I felt like the Jane Hotel's staff were my friends having me over for a few days. The Rose restaurant/bar is a real treat as the coffee is amazing. Every staff member went out of their way to assist or help in such a friendly, professional, and courteous manner. The idea of staying in a 50 square foot hotel room seemed out of my comfort zone, but I quickly acclimated to the coziness. I highly recommend The Jane Hotel to anyone.
If you're looking for a cheap place to crash for the night, this is a good place to do that. The rooms are tiny but comfortable. I loved the pillows. There are these little metal rods you have to push into the wall in order to use the electricity in the room. There are outlets for the top and bottom bunk in the cabin size room. Bathrooms are SHARED. I did not mind this and only saw one other person in there during my stay. Our bathroom was clean and fully stocked with shampoo and soap dispensers on the wall. There were even a set of hair dryers in there as well.
Fabulous old world hotel. Great service. Room was clean. Be aware of the room size before you show up (50 sqft). If you know what your getting into it's a great time.
Hotel confortable. Room girls but bathroom very clean. The area is excellent.
Awful experience as regards the payment for the 9 nights of the stay. After the checkout, the Jane Hotel has continued sending charges to the bank until duplicate the total amount, without getting solution. On top of that, the staff at the reception does not solve any question and does not provide any clarity on these charges. The room was not cleaned everyday, and that service had to be requested every single day. Clean towels, toilet paper, shampoo, and soap had to be requested as well. As regards the bar of the hotel, most of the staff were extremely rude and expecting a tip for that horrible service. The only positive thing of that hotel is the good location.
So, the club is great but the management is terrible. They are super racist and sexist. So a friend of mine and I got in. We got our stamps. The bartenders told us to get out coat checked in ten min. But when we came out. The club manager called Michel/ Michael came out and refused to let us back in. This is after we had already been in. We were 3 of us. 2 of us including me are not skinny girls so he was ohkay with our friend from entering but not us. He is not only a horribly rude person. When we tried to ask him for an explanation all he said was NO. Yup that’s it NO. He also went ahead and lied to his manger saying we were never inside which is bogus because we were at a table inside. Long story short. This place is definitely fun but if you are looking for a fun drama free night this is not the place.
Excellent service, it was a good experience in question of the event.
It's all good. The location is good but very small rooms.
The Jane is true gem in all of Manhattan. Visitors looking for the typical hotel experience may not be the type for the Jane. When you visit NYC, you don't come to hang out in your hotel room. You go, go, go. For the service you receive, the price is unbeatable. The new restaurant, Old Rose, is perfect. Staff is incredibly helpful. The Jane Hotel is one of a kind and that's a terrific thing!
You get what you pay for. This is some of the cheapest accommodation in NY yet you still get a comfortable bed, clean shared bathroom, and you're in a historically significant building. It's where the Titanic survivors stayed. Cool, huh?
Best you're gonna get for the price in NY. Very clean. Shared bathrooms are co-ed. I would stay again. Good value and nice atmosphere. Extremely small rooms and a twin bed, so double check what you're signing up for, but again, you have to consider the market.
A funky place to stay. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the ship themed room. Not far from the subway as well, so easy to get around New York.
Nice hotel, friendly staff and great décor.
Stayed here for two nights in the single cabin room. While the room is indeed small, it's arranged smartly. Storage above and under the bunk as well as a shelf at the window. Room was very clean, but very warm initially. Opened a window and let the A/C run for a but cooled it right down and made it comfortable. Shared bathrooms were a new experience for me, and pulled off quite well. Very clean, with private shower and toilet stalls and a double sink in between. Remember to bring flip flops! I had no problems with noise from the lobby bar as some reveiws have mentioned but I was up on the fourth floor. I would definitely recommend the Jane Hotel for anyone who is spending one or two nights in NYC.
Very small boat or Orient Express cabin rooms but I knew what to expect.
Very clean shared bathrooms.
I never had to queue.
Sumptuous reception and ballroom.
Adjoining Restaurant.
Good overall experience!
Tried to take my Friend here for her birthday. Called up to make a reservation but was told we didn’t need one. Got to the door and the door host would not let us in. He was a power mad cretin and despite the fact that we had friends inside (who also did not have a reservation) with a table and he still would not let us in was despicable. He seemed to take great pleasure in turning people away, the shocking thing was our 3 friends inside said the bar was empty. They tried to make us go to their “sister” bar Park but honestly I don’t see how they expected us to spend our money there when we were treated so poorly. avoid. We ended up going to brass monkey round the corner and it was so much better.
The bar is fabulous. Huge fireplace, great ambiance. Food very good. Can't wait to go back.
Wonderful spot that I have never visited before, despite having lived in the neighborhood 20 years prior. I would recommend it for our own foundation galas, as well as letting friends visiting the city know a great place to stay!
Fantastic hotel with a real charm. A unique style. When you stay here make sure to check out the club downstairs Nd get in early as you get a real nice experience, it's such a cozzy yet stylish place. Bunk bed rooms are real tiny but you don't need to spend much time in them anyway :)
Beautiful hotel with rich history. Rooms are very small, however you shouldn't spend lot of time in room, while being in such interesting city. Rooms and toilets are clean, regularly maintained. Hotel is easy to find, few hundred meters from High Line Tour begining. Nearby there is shop where food could be bought and eaten in nearby pier. Overall, I had good experience in this hotel.
Good location, but at night the security Nonte let you enter by more Qie stayed in the hotel, as there is disco and mix the tickets. The bathrooms are used by even the same people in the disco.
Very small rooms but at a good price. Very clean and friendly staff. Since Thursday night there is a party at night.
Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Service is extremely limited; the hotel is clearly more bothered about the ‘trendy’ guests attending a party in the lobby or on the roof than those paying for rooms. Upon arrival we barged our way through to the check in desk to ‘tuts’ and sighs of those queuing for an event, with no assistance from staff. Also, the rooftop was closed for a ‘private party’ two out of our three nights, with an incredibly rude doorman telling us so. No signage or notice so wasted our time trying to get up there. On final night, tried to have a drink at the bar by reception but — surprise — that was also closed for a private event. Rooms are average, with very little room to manoeuvre, and ours was incredibly dark & dingy. One lift (elevator) means it takes a long time to get up and down so there’s always a queue. Can’t wait to check out tomorrow and head over to The Standard.
I came to Jane Hotel for early-ish drinks around 9pm. They have two bars: one bar has a really nice outdoor view of the river and Jersey City. ~$10-12 per drink, but they make nice drinks. The second bar is downstairs and it's really cool! They have a fireplace and cool/strange artwork. I'd definitely come back!
There is a lot to tell… it is a emblematic Hotel in NY that seems stopped in time, perfect for when you travel alone and with an excellent location in the vibrant sector of Chelsea, close to many places of interest (museums, Chelsea Market, bars, restaurants, Boutiques) has a perfect view of the Hudson River. On the other hand the rooms although they are cabin type have everything you need, they give you bathrobe, slippers to water bottles, the bathrooms are very clean and the best is your roof top. The only thing I did not like so much was the noise of the doors as to close them sound hard which is not pleasant when you try to sleep also is about 10 min from the metro station but I guess for the price is fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I have stayed here twice before in the last 5 years, and always sung its praises. This last 4 nights we spent here though we're pretty hit-and-miss though. The rooftop bar is lovely. The price for a bunk cabin is pretty good! But we were put on a smoking floor which stank, and unlike my previous visits, the shared shower was mouldy and smelled of urine. On our last night, I was woken at 3am by the music from the bar (now "club") on the ground floor, and we were on the 3rd floor! The service is sometimes nice, sometimes lazy, sometimes outright dismissive.
Very beautiful historic hotel. The staff is very friendly. The neighborhood the hotel is located at is beautiful. Nice restaurants a couple blocks away at the meat packing district. Across the street Is a Nice kids park next to the water and views of the skyline.
The location of the hotel is great — just a stone's throw from the Chelsea Market, the subway station at the 14th street and the main sights of the Greenwich Village and the Meatpacking District. The rooms were really small — their size was equivalent of a navy ship cabin — but great given the extremely convenient price of the stay. It was almost a bless — staying in New York in August, without the Jane, would have been a massive economic nightmare. The staff has always been kind and helpful. If you're looking for a nice stay in New York without spending millions, head to the Jane!
I stayed in one of the cabins with shared bath. The cabin is TINY! However, it's so well laid out I really didn't mind and I"m 6'6". The bathrooms are very nice and absolutely spotless. The hotel decor is simply astounding; even if you don't stay here do yourself a favor and check it out. This is where the survivors of the Titanic stayed during the public inquest into the disaster. Despite being largely a budget hotel the service was more like a 5 star. One day I was going out and between the time I left my room and when I got outside it started raining. While I stood at the entrance trying to decide if I should go buy a cheap umbrella, a bellhop asked if I'd like an umbrella. I didn't ask because seriously, who expects a budget hotel to hand out umbrellas? I was really impressed. Also, Jane St has cobblestones and the neighbourhood is beautiful — the West Village at it's best. After you're done sightseeing do yourself a favor and take an evening stroll along the Hudson River Greenway across the road for stunning views of lower Manhattan and New Jersey.
3rd visit. Perfect for a short trip to NYC for concerts, sport events or sight seeing. Single rooms are small as a navy ship cabin but enough space for luggage, you and a cycle if you do the Triathlon like I did this time. Great location, amazing roof top bar with view over the Hudson and even better service. Communal showers that are clean and supplied with conditioner and lovely smelling shower gel. Plus the room comes with slippers, dressing gown and plenty of towels.
Very clean and staff at the small care.
Hotel recommended by readers of the Guardian. Some rooms share their sanitary facilities.
Great hotel like on a boat and Gypsy cafe for breakfast, very cool.
The room was very small and clean.
Average high prices considering the area.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I do not recommend! Very noisy hotel, I did not sleep at night because of the incessant noise, slammed doors that make the bed vibrate. It's tiny, and far too expensive for what it is.
Since the Chelsea Hotel has been defunct, the Jane has quietly taken its place as THE hipster hangout of lower Manhattan. The Jane evokes a warm resonance that tingles the senses. The musty smell of the lobby, dark gothic look of the club on the ground floor, the Marrakech style of the Jane caffe and of course the roof top bar with its beautiful western views over the Hudson. Definitely worth the visit for the day or a week.
If they let you in it's nice.
Amazing hotel! Even though the room is tiny, but it is very nice and comfy. The shared bathroom and restroom are also very cleaned (OCD standard). The staff is super nice. I asked for Ezra towels and water, and they brought to me in less than 5 mins. The location is awesome. The hotel is at the end of the High Line and next to the sea, so you can see New Jersey. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to stay in Manhattan under a budget.
The hotel is older and it shows. But I think it has its special charm. I liked very much. I was there a week and a single cabin. The rooms are really very small. But you know that when you book. For me absolutely sufficient because I took only a place to sleep and went throughout the day. Everything was clean at all times. Also the bathrooms, which we had to share with other guests. Someone from the staff was constantly the clean.
Every one of the staff was friendly, helpful, and Nice. After 3 days, she knew me and I was greeted nicely. Still, there's only 4 star since it was noisy day and night despite the window is closed. The rooms are situated on a multi-lane road. And even though above where a roof party found, has heard that despite what.
But I liked it and I would book it again in any case for a Städtrreise.
We came to check in and the computer was down. We waited almost an hour and they still weren't fixed so we checked our bags and went about our day. We returned at midnight to an unpleasant concierge who informed us we could not check in without the card for the reservation. I explained that it belongs to our boss who was with us for the check-in earlier but had gone home. Very rude, he demanded a card. We paid for our room and went up. This is a beautiful place, the room was what we expected, clean and small. Shared bathrooms are a bit gross and show some age. You do feel like you're on a ship. The bar and lounge are amazing. I guess the lousy customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. I work in the hotel industry and would never speak to a guest the way I was spoken to tonight.
I was very happy with my stay at the. It is a more affordable hotel in the Union Square area, but it is clean, very comfortable, and has really polite and professional staff. And the food/room service was outstanding! The room was spotless, and there's even a "pillow menu" to choose your own pillow and make your stay extra comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again — some people I traveled with stayed at a nearby hotel that was double the cost, and they weren't nearly as happy as me with their experience.
Rooms were nice. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were well-maintained. Wonderful location. However, there was cigarette smoke frequently coming into the room and smoking was going on in the bathrooms. I complained but nothing was done. We were there a week and most nights were quiet but on Thursday and Friday nights the music from the downstairs bar was so loud that we couldn't sleep! Again I complained but nothing was done even though staff was nice. Rarely was able to get connection to Wi-Fi.
I stayed at the Jane for several weeks while I was doing research for a series of articles on E. B. White. The single bunk was adequate to the task, I had plenty of storage space, a phone dock, and Wi-Fi. The room service I (often) ordered was always prompt and eager to go that little bit extra for residents. Though they had run out of a particular brand of apple juice, they went out to a local deli and brought one back, at no extra cost. The lack of en-suite (the price of the bunk reflected this) was not an issue as the bathrooms at the end of the hall were always well maintained and spacious enough to never feel busy. The cafe and bar attached to the hotel were both sufficient, in that the food was reasonably priced and I was able to get a dirty martini well into the early hours of most mornings. All the staff I met were professional and courteous, they took a pride in their work that I've rarely come across in the many other hotels I have stayed in — which is why I'm writing this review. For the price it was one of the truest bargains to be had in the city in my entire stay.
Interesting character to the place. The rooms are comically small but somewhat charming. Although guest rooms are non-smoking the hotel has residents that live there and you can smell smoke in the hallway.
UPDATE: They seem to have lowered their prices recently… I'm married to a Retired Disabled Army Veteran. Although I don't think that it's their standard policy, it never hurts to ask nicely for a military discount. I'm an Actress on stage and screen, so I have to travel from my home in Boston to Manhattan for both auditions and for performing. If you just want to have a place to sleep (with free Wi-Fi, a safe, cable television, a charging station, AC), are traveling alone, enjoy historical buildings, and can handle sharing a bathroom (which is incredibly clean and close to your room), The Jane Hotel is perfect. Everything is within walking distance and the hotel offers their residents free use of bicycles too. PERFECT for actors who want to stay near Penn Station. To all of my fellow professional actors who happen to be searching for a decent place to crash for a night or two, you can't find a more convenient location at this price. NO HOTEL is closer to Broadway and other Theater/Film venues than right here! I have been a loyal guest here since 2010. (I'm also a HUGE buff of all of the history regarding the Titanic, and the survivors were interviewed here too).
The trip started out great. There is a very interesting, eclectic vibe. By the end of the stay we regretted our choice to stay here. The hotel charged us for things we didn't use. The bar downstairs is run by rude bouncers that don't care of you were starting in the hotel and would refuse service.
Paid 1000 to stay in such a low level hotel. If you pay to stay here you do not get access to the bar or club. All the pictures that they display are a complete lie and management likes to give you the run around about why you can't access the floor club. Do not buy into low level hotel that tries to mislead you with its own hype. Also it's disgusting and full of bed bugs. I'm praying for you if you pay for such a ratchet hotel.
You're on a ship headed for a new life. Or your in Wes Anderson's latest film. Or your in a simple but clean and hip Manhattan hotel paying 2/3 of what you would pay elsewhere. What's the difference, really, at the Jane Hotel. It's where I like to stay if I am in New York during the high season. There's not a lot of room for your stuff, but you probably pack too much anyway.
Jane is sooo girls rooms. They are like boat cabins. The bathroom is shared by floor.
So to give you an idea of that rooms are so small, we stayed with my brother in a room that had less surface than a Queen size bed. The beds were on each other and we hardly had place in the ground for our suitcases.
The hotel itself is beautiful and has a wavelength of 30 years very interesting.
The bar is the worst scene in NYC. There was a huge bug crawling behind the bar. Gross! The doorman and the bouncers out front were so rude to everyone. If you like bugs in your drink and rude staff, go here.
At the last minute took my Mom to New York. Nice hotel, I know it's small, but we had a nice time! (I don't think my Mom liked shared bath! LOL! ) It didn't bother me…
I very strongly recommend spending $ 70 more and go somewhere else. I booker a "low range" room in this hotel, but I was far from suspecting that the room would be so small that I couldn't even open my suitcase on the floor.
The worst mattress I've had in my life. And the rooms are too much heat! It was at least 27-28 degree and even opening the window it is impossible to lower the temperature.
Even if you imagine you go out much the city home late and you want to pay less for a bed I you Council to think again…
Wi — Fi is the slowest I've seen (even the hostel where I stay in Bangkok we faster flow)
The bathroom is okay if you're used to the bathroom/shower room to share
The staff is ok
We hear everything, pray that the guy in the next room don't snore ;)
And the environment seems ideal to the proliferation of fleas in bed (I'm lucky I didn't) but apparently this is not rare in this hotel again once I took the low House of range.
Good living (Captain's bunk) and staff were nonplussed. Good bed, TV and Café Gitane serves a great avocado sandwich and a not-so-great Bloody Mary.
Been here every time when visited ny, now being a new yorker for many years, must say… a perfect spot for drinks, around my age (30 +) crowd, great service… just a perfect spot for drinks and chillin'!
Visited the night club a couple of weeks ago and this place is a death trap and disaster waiting to happen. It was EXTREMELY overcrowded and there was so much furniture and so many decorations throughout the nightclub that you could barely move around. With that being said, it has a very cool atmosphere and seems like a generally fun place.
The hotel is clean, interesting, and fun. The cabin rooms are very, very small but and excellent value for its premium Chelsea location. The shared bathrooms are clean and recently renovated, but get crowded in the morning. The front desk staff were friendly. Overall, I would strongly recommend this hotel to any person visiting Manhattan who is looking for budget accommodation without sacrificing location and a great New York experience.
This was an incredibly fun place to stay. The rooms are incredibly small, not unlike college dorm, and the overall atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Bathrooms were maintained in a clean and organized manner. And the staff seemed to all be ready to help with anything that I needed.
Really cool Moroccan-themed brunch spot. Light on seating, but was easy to get a spot. Super-tall ceilings and big windows make the space seem airy and welcoming. I got the basic breakfast of croissant, coffee, and juice, and it was amazing. Well presented and delicious. Friendly staff.
Small rooms, but the price is exceptional. Very friendly staff (I've asked them to provide some rather unique services and they did just great), AC working well. Overall a great experience.
Quite possibly the most disorganized, over-rated place in the city. Getting someone on the line to buy a table is as time consuming and useless as counting sand on the beach.
Jane is such a nicw hotel. Cabins are small but cosy. The reat of the hotel has a nice smart touch to it. Friendly staff and everyone staying here seems friendly. Jane also offers bike rental and free Wi-Fi.
Beautiful hotel in a really nice part of New York. The tiniest room we ever booked, but for one night it was okay. There are cool bars and shops nearby.
Very nice place fron desk concierge very good.
A club which used to be great. You'll now find over there disgusting cocktails, bad dj and a staff considering you as dumb. No doubt, I would prefer a dirty dive bar to this place. That's too bad for this beautiful old fashion hotel.
Great rooms, affordable prices, perfect for solo or couple travelers looking for an inexpensive place to crash.
I am pretty sure if you die and go to hell, you end up in The Jane. The main killer beyond all the other negatives is their attempt to house you inside of a pressure cooker and call it a room. I was there in the middle of winter. It was — 18 outside, and my room was 88+ degrees every night, even with the window open. Don't even bother trying to sleep there.
Don't plan to stay at the Jane and then expect anyone to pay u any mind when u complain about small rooms and shared bathrooms. It is what it is — lots of rooms, with bunks no less!, lots of travelers and a GREAT location. Add to that the ambiance, helpful staff (despite having to wear those little hats! ) and the cafe and I say it's a GEM! We really liked it, for the price. Not only is there free Wi-Fi, but they'll loan you a laptop. Or a bike, for that matter. Sure, the 2 toilets and 2 showers weren't enough to accommodate our floor — but for bathrobes, slippers, lovely clean tile and fixtures, shampoo, conditioner& hairdryer provided — it's worth getting up 15 minutes earlier to beat the rush. I wonder if there was a storage room for luggage, tho. A full size suitcase would be very inconvenient under foot. The rooms ARE downright claustrophobic — all wood and upholstery and rugs. Don't go to sleep without figuring out the lights and ventilation options, in case you wake in the night and the walls are closing in on you, so to speak.
The Jane Hotel has a charming, funky, retro decor, polite and helpful staff, and is well-located. My only gripe is that the mattress in the single room I stayed in was stiff and uncomfy and that the sound of doors slamming all morning kept waking me up. If they can fix the comfort of their beds, I'd more strongly recommend The Jane. It's a fair value for its price.
One of the best hotels with shared bathroom where I have had the pleasure of staying. Clean with details of hotel 5 *. Room with bunk bed cabin type has a TV for each bed, bathrobe and slippers, has water as a welcome gift. The truth is that this experience was unique, although the space stay us small with as much suitcase after fifteen days touring the East coast of the United States, but would return to this hotel without thinking I.
Definitely feels haunted but we did not see or hear any ghosts. The lobby and the adjacent bar and lounge area are full of character. We really liked the style. Open with super high ceilings and tons of vintage couches and chairs. The whole place is vintage. But in a good way. We stayed in the Captain's Cabin. First impression was, "wow this place is kinda dumpy" but it grew on us quickly. Everything was VERY clean. I used the shower without fear. Bathroom was gorgeous. Updated but matched the style of the rest of the place. Bed was comfy. We met some people in the elevator and around the place. Lots of Europeans. It really did feel like a super upscale hostel. Everyone was friendly and the place had a good vibe. Would stay here again.
I have had the opportunity to be there first in the Restaurant and in the Ballroom a few years ago. I decided that my next stay in NY was going to be in The Jane Hotel, and so it was. The place is perfectly located, the access to the bicycle allows you to move with ease throughout the city. The rooms are XXS, but to see any imageb and/or review is the first thing you say, so there is no novelty. It is important to highlight the good service and the good vibes of the people.
Best hotel for those who want to spend little money!
