I had planned to travel to New York for studies in march, and because the covid-19 I had to change my plans because all the classes were canceled. However, despite all my interactions with this hotel, they dont want to cancel my reservation and return my money.
Genntlemen, we are in emergency, haven't you notice? … I need all my money paid. Thanks.

We have slept 3 nights out there. I Employees were courteous. The room was well maintained but the showers.

A nice place for cheap accommodation in the New York mainly for young traveler. Elevator are little bit old fashioned. Rooms are also less spacious. But good for the price.

I booked online at the last minute. I wasn’t expecting much but was totally floored by my room and the view over Central Park! I was so lucky getting my room and on the top floor! Who said 13 wasn’t a lucky number? The room suited me perfectly but may be small for others, or for two people sharing. Noise travels a bit when people enter/exit their rooms, but that’s to be expected and the showers were hot and bathrooms clean. Staff were super friendly and always someone to welcome you. Location is amazing! I will definitely be staying here again! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have regular annual gym membership, and I go here several times a week. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. The equipment is clean and fully functional. And the locker room is clean and well maintained. I always have a good workout here.

The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Considering people paid more than a $100 for a room each night, I expect a better washroom. Besides, the whole hallway smells like piss. The two stars I'm giving is the location of the hostel.

If you are looking to save some money while in NYC, this is the place to stay. If all you need is just a place to sleep, then stay here. It is in a fantastic location. Right next to Central Park and close walking distance to many popular sites.

Lovely location right on Central Park, close to Columbus subway. Clean, warm and safe. The upgrade to private bathroom is worth paying a little extra for.

You get a small, basic room, with a twin bed and closet for less than $100 a night, if you book online. There are about 6 to 8 single bathrooms in the hallway with toilets and showers. If you want a private bathroom, it will cost a little more. I had absolutely no problem with the bathrooms. The bathroom doors locked securely, and they were surprisingly clean and well-lit. The only proplem that I had was with the tiny TV in my room. It did not work properly. Also, the view out of the window was of a brick wall. However, if you're on a tight budget and want to be in the middle of Manhattan, you can't beat this YMCA. How much time are you actually going to spend in your room, anyway? It's New York!

YMCA (as the song the famous band, village people) probably the cheapest accommodation in Manhattan in 2012 when you don't want to get out of the Center. Old roofing converted into a youth hostel. Single room at 90 dollars a night WC and collective shower not very engaging but good one is 30 minutes walk from time square, 100m from Central Park.

This hostel is very well located with three metro stops nearby. Has many activities and services like swimming pool and basketball court covered it gym, yoga room, etc… and the staff is very friendly. I will come back.

Nice hotel. Modest rooms but well priced for being in good location of Manhattan.

I used it as a base to participate in the NYC Marathon and for this purpose in my opinion is very well being close to the finish line of the race and the pavilion that hosts various events related to the competition. My single room had clean and comfy shared bathrooms, obviously not a 5 star hotel so you have to adjust and know what to expect from this accommodation.

Excellent location. Economic option for all ages. Recommended.

Enrolled in the gym membership program. All staff are very nice, but they have been telling me they don't have the cards for WEEKS. So every time I need to wait in line with other hotel guests to get the daily pass. They should have everything ready first. Regretted to enroll in the gym membership program. I give up going there, waste money. Just start going to other private gym in that area. You get what you pay for.

We had a short but really nice visit. The hostel is located central, so that you can reach Times Square within a 15 minute walk. The YMCA is also located near to where the famous "Shakespeare in the park" takes place, which I can totally recommend! The rooms aren't too luxurious, but absolutely answer their purpose. The YMCA can be recommended to everyone, that wants to be active while staying in NYC, the gym area is incredible and spreads over thee levels. It includes a lot of regular gym devices, but also a swimming pool and an extra area for spinning, doing gymnastics or playing basketball. The hostel is very cheap, but we were totally surprised, by what it had to offer. (we weren't too interested in the rooms and public bathes, because we just used them for sleeping)

I stayed in this hotel on May. Because of the great location you get, the quality isn't that good for the price you pay. The worst part I experienced from the trip is that they checked me out while I was in my room and a stranger opened the door. They told me they will refund but when I come back from the trip, they've been avoiding the call and they won't do refund. High unlikely I will visit this place again.

The building is a little confusing, but if you are looking for an affordable work out, this is the place. It's got everything and it's well taken care of. They even have racquetball and a pool.

I only know the gym and pool but those are great. If you are looking to get your workouts done without all the thrills of Equinox this the place for a 3rd of the coast and yes there is a basketball court and spin studio with great bikes too.

It worth it's price. Great location e good service.

Fantastic location. Under 2 mins to Central Park or Columbus Circle. Stayed for 7 nights in a twin room — bunk beds which were fine. This isn't the Ritz remember. Bathrooms were clean and tidy — no issues there. No complaints at all but wish there was a continental breakfast.

Very well located, cheap. Even when the bathroom is shared it is never full. The room is a bit small, but everything else makes up for it. You can take a breakfast at a reasonable price in a small shop in the lobby. Steps from Lincoln Center and subway Columbus Circle.

Location is superb, easy access to Columbus circle and central park is across the street. Beds are just ok, though they could improve. We booked a twin room and the way they advertise it makes you believe there's a private restroom, but there is not. Doors can make a lot of noise, housekeeping was very noisy in the morning. Bathrooms on the 13th floor were generally clean, and shower was nice. The heating system was always too hot and made me sweat twice during the night and there's no way to adjust temperature or a termostat. You get what you pay for it.

Cheap clean in the best area of Manhattan.

One of the worst experience ever! One bathroom for 75 rooms (9th floor) Window in my room was broken and I had huge hole in the window where the AC is. Bathrooms were dirty and there was always a line. Beds are so uncomfortable to the point that is better to sleep on the floor. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT GO THERE! It's better to pay 100$ more and have something decent.

Through a renovation they had in the locker room, my newly purchased Nike sport bag, my new shoes, towel, new gym clothes and a gold necklace which were all in the bag and locked in my locker got disappeared. Long story short, the manager felt ok to crack the locks off of the lockers without contacting the owners of the lockers. I had to go there back and forth for the course of 2 months only to face the fact that my stuff were gone. The funny thing is they did not accept any responsibilities and even encouraged me to call the cops in case it makes me feel better. And get this; the necklace was the only thing was left from my beloved mom. She was diseased 2 years ago. I'm heart broken and speechless. Never thought going to a gym might brought me so much despair.

I have booked a room at West Side YMCA but the single room I booked was horrible, the air condition was really noisy and the bed was almost breaking to pieces. I cancelled the rest of my stay except for the first night. This was 3 months ago but I haven't received any refund yet. Emails and phone calls regarding the refund are simply ignored. I want my money back! keep your hands off this hostel.

They closed before 8pm on the weekends. They should be ashamed of themselves. They also don't open on weekends until hours after they open on weekdays. This place is simply unacceptable.

We hardly stayed in the room as we are too busy exploring the city. Great to sleep, but I wouldn't stay in it for too long.

The only good thing about the hotel is the location. In front of the central park and only a few minutes from the metro station. But the toilets were disgusting and mostly not working. The same thing with the showers: out of order, gives only insanely hot water and the other one just cold. The rooms are tiny and mostly unclean. Really hands off.

The site is well located, at the end of Central Park, where it begins the best part of Manhattan, talking about security. Had to eat it, although abuse of spices like all sites, swimming pool, gym, and people who treat you ok, good price for the location it's in. You have all kinds of room for large groups and for couples, the bad in the good season is fucked up to find a gap. I have gone 2 vec, and it'll repeat.

The hotel has a splendid location right by the park and is within short distance of the subway. The beds are comfortable and there are fitness and swimming possibilities. That being said the hotel is really just a place to kick back after a day in NY! The service isn't extraordinary and I wouldn't pick the hotel for any other reason than the obvious financial perk. The hotel has great Wi-Fi strong enough to maintain a Skype call. That is when the Wi-Fi is working of course.

It is fun to stay at the YMCA! As we Lobby area entered, because we knew that this Hostel has to be something special. It all looked very modern, and it took me a little sad, because I love old Hotels! But soon I should be made happy. We took the Elevator to the ninth floor and in front of us opened up a reconstruction of the prison island Alcatraz. I was of the colors and especially the smell so excited that my stomach decided, the digestive process is to be terminated and then tried to digesting food back to the daylight. Fortunately without success. But I have to say that my vomit quite nice next to the urine in the hallway would have made. My friends told me staying at the YMCA would be great fun. They were wrong! With these and other words, we were on the fragrant toilet welcomed. In order to set up to conserve we have tried to not touch anything and prefer the toilet of the Starbucks across to use. Since Starbucks has no showers, we had the great opportunity in the YMCA shower! I love it when I have a cold jet of water, its temperature does not change, leaving the back down runs. Do you really want to stay at the YMCA, because you want to save money? Like! Then I'll give you but still following tips along the way: you Sleep in clothes and take them with disinfectant! Just so you can get a rash avoid.

We were at the end of October 2012 in the Hostel located at the end of 2012, we also have the Hurricane Sandy went through. Was the storm is not as bad as expected. Nevertheless, it was our flight delayed to 1 week after the back. The people in the Hostel were from the beginning very condescending and rude — after the storm this was getting worse and worse, among others, Were Hostelzimmerpreise increases, this can, of course, with unsettling Hostelgästen. Service read to be desired, also, a very big drawback was the cleanliness — Karkalaken in the bathrooms — and the response from the reception was only that this is in New York in the bathrooms would normally be. Something positive at the Hostel was the gym and the Fitnessauswahl, these were very good. All in all, I can only say: stay away.

I stayed in the YMCA WEST SIDE in February 2011. The advantage of this Hostel is the location. 1 minute to go to the central park. 15 minutes to walk to the time square is a huge pro. But the Hostel itself isn't quite OK. The rooms are extremely small. But that's not unusual for NY. A big disadvantage is the rolling bed. In addition to this I have to say, that the condition of the room is poor and neglected. But the biggest contra is the bathroom. It is a bathroom on the floor. The shower had two settings: hot as hell or cold as ice. Mirrors wete broken and it was in a lousy condition. The personal contrast were friendly and gentle. All in all I have to say, the hostel is a hostel and not a hotel, but also for the low-standards of a hostel very bad. But if you just wanna stay to sleep and make the rest of the day and most of the night sightseeing and explore the city, according to the location and the good price for New York, you can take this alternative. For just a place to sleep I can recommend this hostel, but only for this reason.

It is not brilliant, but it is cheap and good location in Manhattan.
